we're solving for x. here, i cancelled through by x but because i did, i didn't get the right answer. i thought i could cancel through by x?

If you cancel with x you will lose a value, try solving it without dividing by x.

Sorry for my terrible handwriting, but you can never divide through by a variable as you lose a solution, so you take 2X from each side then factorise out xe^x^2

The 2x’s cancel eachover out, so we are left with 6xe^x^2=xe^x^2
Ignore the e^x^2 as this will clearly just be the same for all x we have 6x=x. Therefore x must equal zero.
