Has anyone else found it difficult to know how much detail to include within their assignments? I have just received feedback from a piece of work marked at a merit, that could have included more detail. However, how much detail is enough detail?

    Any advice is greatly appreciated.

    Is that the feedback?

Just increase it till they say thats enough or you improve to distinction.
Ask your tutor to give an example. If I wasnt word restricted then id go for anywhere between 50-100% and react according to feedback.

Perhaps if you have a friend or know of someone who did the curse and got a distinction you could read their work just to see the depth they managed.

Problem is I don’t know anyone that is doing or has done the course already. I only have one chance of submission and you tutor is soo slow, but she’ll read two of my questions

Oh sorry I just realised it was Access and not a degree.
Your answers arent detailed enough i.e not enough depth to gain the marks available. It might be the difference between a GCSE standard and A level.

Get yourself some decent A level textbooks or alternatively get a tutor to show you the difference. A decent science student from your local uni can do that, but you will need to pay them. You need to hit the floor running with access courses and get to the standard needed quickly.

    Maybe

The best way to make sure you are including enough detail is just to ask the person giving you the assignments what sort of level they are expecting. I've noticed from going through an access to HE course myself to the first 2 years in a zoology degree that the level of detail they expect seems to differ depending on who is marking.

So the best bet is to just ask them ahead of time so you can plan your work accordingly.

    Hope this helps.
