Yeah ive heard a lot of people rejected from cambridge/ them not filling up the spots.. and same with imperial going though clearing with BBB required because some of the applicants are that **** at computer science :|
Imperial Computing, in clearing with BBB? Uh, I don't think so.
Exactly what I thought. They go into extra to fill up their quota of internationals, but certainly I've never heard of BBB offers. I think your data is like 10 years out of date. The lowest offer I've heard being given in my year is AAB, which was a guy who had taken a gap year (he was in the last year of standard offer being AAB)
Well thought I wouldn't get a even an Interview for chemistry however I end up getting an offer. I got BBC last year in chemistry, maths and physics however did better in january exams. My P.S was alright with my reference being very good. My target grades were A,A/B,B and they gave me offer of AAB. .
If they give you an interview, then your more or less in unless you really come across as a bad person. My chem interview went quite bad seeing that I failed to answer the more difficult questions but still they seemed impressed with me --- some how

To quote what was said in another thread "Imperial takes almost anyone".
Strictly speaking though, that's not necessarily true, coz a few of my friends as you might already know, were rejected for Mech Eng. quite a few though, but well, at least I know that one of them wasn't anywhere near Imperial level.

Yeah I don't really believe this whole "imperial - wow" -effect. Because as I said they seem to just hand out offers right and left not doing much differentiation between applicants. I had an absolutely massive **** up during my interview WHY oh WHY did they give me an offer, surely that should be an indicator of my inability to study chosen subject?
But how many of your friends DID get an offer as opposed to those who did not?

I know, we sort of get that feeling too, however take this, around 4 of us applied for Mech Eng, some others for other subjects, i.e. Medicine, Biological Sciences... etc. and out of the 4 Mechanical engineers I was the only one with the offer (and not taking it for now either) whilst the rest of them got rejected. The rest of the applicants, I know of only 1 of them who has been given an offer, the rest, I'd assume either rejected or not replied yet. So you can imagine...
And they never used to ask for Further Maths for Mech Eng, now they seem to do... at least for me..

Fair play to you then sir - I am just amazed at the massive amount of people on this forum who have offers. It just does not make sense for university with that kind of reputation to base their admission on... well I don't know how they select people to be honest, maybe they don't.
