Hey guys, I've been approached by the uncle of an ex who I used to do copyediting for his PhD papers. He's not a native English speaker whereas I am, doesn't live in the UK either. I'm 18 with no real editing experience obviously, but I'm well read and native so that's pretty much what he needs.
He used to give me £30 to copyedit 11,500 words which I realise now was very low, it used to take me about 5 hours
I know I should be paid less since I'm young and don't really have experience, however he seems very confident about my ability to do so.

I want to negotiate with him a rate per 1000 words perhaps. I've been looking online but I can't seem to figure out what would be best. I don't want to make things awkward by charging too much, but neither do I want to sell myself short.

Anyone got any suggestions? Thank you!

Maybe get a few more quotes and then charge him 60%?
    maybe anything from £70-120?
