I thought Imperial courses normally don't go into Clearing?

Imperial, one of the top ten universities in the world go into clearing, do be serious.

I havent seen computing in clearing oO

In Extra yes, but not clearing. The extra is mainly (i'd say 99%) for international students, i.e. when imperial wants more money.

But things like biology, medical engineering etc do

Actually someone I was at high-school with managed to get into QMUL via Clearing
I can't recall what she was studying though - most probably a Humanities.

Drat, just realised I'm posting in an 'Imperial' thread - sorry! Thought you were just asking which courses ended up in Clearing

From what I remember, it wasn't specified if you had to be international or not.

Imperial do Clearing

Last year under Computer Science courses GH56, HG65 and HG6M were in Clearing. I know an aeroengineering course was there too. Without looking at every subject category you can't see what course a particular uni had in clearing so I can't give you all of them easily, so I won't!

WokSz FYI In looking up something for a clearing request just now I found 9 Earth Science courses in clearing at Imperial last year.

Hmpf this clearing business is annyoing.

Even if it's in clearing they still want good grades! It just means more people haven't got AAA (or whatever) than they think should have done, or maybe people missed their offers by too much.

The Earth Sciences tend to be the ones that are in clearing most frequently - at least for the past 2 years courses such as Geophysics/Geology have been in clearing. Just because Imperial is supposedly ranked very highly in the league tables doesn't exclude it from being in clearing - they just want the cash. They'd rather have a place taken by someone and get the cash for at least whatever time that person is there than having the spot open and be foregoing any cash at all. Sadly it's all about money at the end of the day.

Generally courses such as Civil, Mechanical, EEE, ISE and Aeronautical Engineering tend to be oversubscribed; in Aero there are about 10-15 people too many in the first year and as such it's pretty crowded when they're all around.

I think you're too cynical. The courses are in clearing since not enough people met the offer and spaces are available, and clearing gets better people in, instead of letting those who missed their offers by too much take the place.
