I think you're too cynical. The courses are in clearing since not enough people met the offer and spaces are available, and clearing gets better people in, instead of letting those who missed their offers by too much take the place.

If you end up in clearing, is it not likely that you would have less than stirling grades, as it means you've missed your firm and insurance offers?

Well the admission tutor for Computing stated that they only let 1-2 applicants in through Clearing and Extra. They are always looking for very good applicants and they tend to get these through both of these.

Not necessarily. You could have gone into Clearing because you didn't want to go to your insurance. I know someone who rejected Oxford Law to go to Warwick to read Physics even though he made his offer to Oxford and to KCL (his insurance).

You would have to ask to be released by your Insurance choice in order to enter Clearing. In practice this is rarely a problem (universities will tend not to hold on to someone who doesn't really want to attend!) but it's not something folks should make a habit of...!

Actually someone I was at high-school with managed to get into QMUL via Clearing

Not that hard, QMUL had vacancies for most of the courses in its school of biological and chemical sciences last year.

Out of interest can anyone post a link to where Imperial puts its clearing vacancies?

Or it could have been Extra if they got their results in March .

Biology in either Clearing or Extra is very surprising. Anyone heard of Chemistry going into either?
GoldenRose
I know someone who got an offer for Biology through clearing (I think it was clearing, not extra. But it may have been extra. I think they applied after they got their A-levels, (AAA), so it was through clearing most probably)

I was speaking to the admissions tutor for biology, NOBODY got in to biology, biochem,, biomed thru clearing for many a year. So must be extra, but that seems weird to me also.

BJ95 BH81 BH9C were the only courses in clearing last year under Bio or Chem.
