Sooo I just noticed that I made 2 mistakes in my personal statement and I’m freaking out!The first one is in the opening paragraph. I unfortunately spelled Hemingway with two ‘m’s instead of one, which I think can be easily overlooked since none of my proof readers has said anything about it but the second on is more major. It’s toward the end. I originally said ‘peaked’ but my correcter said it should be ‘piqued’ instead. Unfortunately I didn’t erase the whole world but only the beginning so it became ‘piquked’. That word doesn’t even exist and it stands out like a sore thumb. I’m really worried because I have already been rejected by 2 universities. Could this be the reason why?

Shouldn't be too much of an issue. Had a few typos in my own personal statement and had offers from unis. Have you checked the UCAS letter that was sent with the rejection? If not, it SHOULD provide you with the reason as to why.
    Best of luck!

If you've checked it and then had a proof-reader check it, it's unlikely the unis picked up on it. So no, it's unlikely to be the only reason for the rejection.

No, I only got a letter from UCAS to say that I was rejected but they didn’t give any explanation as to why. If I want to know more, I should contact the university directly. I did get one offer though, so maybe the typo really isn’t as noticable as I thought.

Most unis don't actually read the personal statement tbh, it's quite literally a waste of time.
