Hi guys, l just got a question and l am not so sure which uni is to take better. l've got 5 offers from different unis, doing cyber security course.
However, since l've got so many options to choose from, I am not so sure which uni is better specifically for this course.
I applied for these unis: Oxford Brookes University, University of Derby, University of Birmingham, University of Nottingham Trent, and University of Salford.
Is anyone doing this specific course (in one of these unis )? How to do you find them? And if you are recommending to study in one of the unis or not. Thank you!

    Undergraduate
Ah, I only mentioned postgrad because I didn't think the University of Birmingham did a Cyber Security course at undergrad.

A lot of the Cyber Security courses are fairly new so you may not be able to get much feedback. As PQ mentioned, look for accreditation by GCHQ and BCS. If any of the courses offer a year in industry or mention assistance/links to getting an internship then I would definitely consider them as getting work experience is paramount.

Birmingham is the only course that has a GCHQ certified masters, which although not perfect is some sort of quality assurance about their Cyber Security course. I expect much of the teaching from the masters will inform their undergraduate offering. Additionally Birmingham have been building up their Cyber Security research capability for some time. Respectfully, as a Cyber security masters grad and as someone who works in Info Sec, those other universities don't have much of a reputation for Cyber Security and seem to be Johnny come latelys to Cyber Security Academia.

Why is that important? There is a ton of money available now for Cyber security research. Uni's are scrambling to cobble together degree programs in an attempt to milk this particular cash cow.

Personally I would want to study at a university that had a good history of cyber security teaching and research before it became "sexy", which in this case is Birmingham. Birmingham hands down for me.
