So, I am returning to university after a few years out because of personal reasons, however when I left the student loans company over paid me so I am now wondering if I'll get anything back etc will I still get a maintenance loan? and how does the university get paid still? is there such a thing of a write of year? I've heard everyone gets 3 years of student finance regardless of their situation if thats a real thing? help please

You are going to have to contact SFE and find out the state of your account.

You say you did a couple of years. Student funding is for degree length +1, so if you used 2 years, then you have degree length -1 funding entitlement.

That means they will pay fees from second year onwards. Yu still get maint loan if normally awarded. UK citizen living in UK for last 3 years.
Choice 1 use credits from old degree and go into year 2.
Choice 2 make compelling personal reason claim to restore student funding for one year, meaning they will pay year 1 fees.
Choice 3 find year 1 fees yourself.

You dont say how you left the overpayment as they normally want that money back so you should have been paying it off ever since? This is money you received , but werent entitled to as soon as you ceased to be a student. You normally make a payment plan. they might want that sorting.
