I really don't understand AC and DC - I know what they are and have a vague idea of the differences between them but I don't understand what is useful where and why? Like how do you know whether to use an AC or DC supply in a circuit or experiment or whatever? Thanks for your help in advance. x

Dc is used in batteries and phones whereas ac is used in the mains
