    To uniquely determine the equation of a certain line, you need two things: a point that it passes through (a,b), and its gradient m. Then the equation of the line is y-b = m(x-a)

    You got the point it passes through, and if it's parallel to some other line then the gradients of the two lines must be the same as well.
