I am expected 8 in english language and literature, and a 6 in maths. Am I ok to take Economics if maths isn’t my stong area? I’m in yr 10 currently

If you like financial markets, what is going on with world currency, austerity, what happened since the financial crash in 2008. Economics is different from ‘maths’. There’s no equations involved

Thank you for your help! I think it looks really interesting and challenging, but I’m glad it isn’t like ‘applied maths’ like I had feared

As above, A-level Economics involves fairly little maths (mainly understanding graphs - not necessarily finding points or anything but appreciating how relationships between two things are represented graphically, at least, and maybe some stats/data analysis).

The above is not true of Economics at degree level however, incidentally.

I’m glad. I just got worried as my business studies teacher, head of economics, said he required 7/8s for maths to take it??

Yep, should be fine. If you want econ as a degree however, maths is extremely important and I’d highly recommend further maths
