The name of Jesus is part of God's well thought out plan.

In Hebrew the name Jesus means literally God is salvation.

"Massih" in Arabic, and Jesus" Messiah" in Hebrew, the anointed One, the one anointed of God.

The angel's message was 'He will save His people from their sins'.

John, 1:17 "For the law was given, through Moses, God's unfailing love and faithfulness came through Jesus Christ." So we see that the word Messiah is associated, in Moses most cases, with the word Jesus, and both of them indicate that the Messiah is the Holy One sent from God for the salvation of mankind.

In the bible we see God attaches great significance to names. His own names are (among many)

God Almighty (El-Shaddai),
God of Peace (Yahweh-Shalom)
God Our Provider (Yahweh-Jireh)

Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

I mean, if I thought I was pregnant with the son of god i’d probably slip that into the name. Mary wasn’t going to call her immaculate conception baby Chad.

It's true there is on going discussion about it.

The bible simple states "also known as".

Roman citizens names consisted of three parts and one of those possibly could have been Paullus, not to dissimilar to Paul.

References to both names can show how he was generally referred to before and after his life changing encounter with Christ. possibly wishing to disassociate himself with the Saul, Christian persecutor of the past.

I'll edit the opening thread so as to make it more clear, thanks

The Immaculate Conception was the of Mary herself (free of Original Sin), not of Jesus.

As Christian my faith teaches me that Mary was not sinless.

She said “My soul doth magnify the Lord, and my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior” (Luke 1:47).

She said that the Lord is “my Savior”— not “a Savior,” or “the Savior.” This implies that Mary was a sinner just like the rest of us.

The bible says in Romans 3:23-24 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.

So we believe there are no earthly exceptions except Jesus, different to Catholicism.

Nothing Godly about my mate Jésus. He turns up in his sombrero munching on burritos, stinking the place up, then when it's time to get some work done he ****s off home to serenade his wife before she goes to work her job as a maid.

"The central claims of Christianity are explicitly rejected by Islam. Islamic doctrine is antithetical to the core message of Christianity. Evincing the case for Christianity disproves Islam, and vice versa. Yes, there are many points of agreement between Islam and Christianity, even regarding the life of Jesus, such as his virgin birth and ability to work miracles. But none of those points of agreement are the central proclamation of the gospel; the Scriptures do not say, “If you believe in the virgin birth, you will be saved.” It DOES say we need to believe Jesus is God, that he died, and that he rose from the dead. Islam categorically denies these beliefs." - Nabeel Qureshi
