In GMS they make you use your toothbrush!

How do they enforce that?
Like when you were 2 and your mum stood you infront of the sink and brushed you teeth for you or do they check that the brush is wet?

Hmmm, glad I'm not in GMS :p:

Hey could someone explain to me...

So ive applied today, how does the allocation process work?

I mean theres people who applied before results day and people who applied after today, but it says they do not start processing until your offer becomes unconditional. So for the majority of people most offers become unconditional today, so which applications are processed first?

Im worried that I wont get into self-catered in john fosters pavillion. I applied like this, all self-catered:

1. John foster, Pavillion
2. Opal Court, Standard plus Ensuite
3. Opal Court, Premium Ensuite
4. John Foster, Coppice

My theory is this, my 2nd and 3rd choice is Opal which hardly goes to undergrads, so they will have to offer me John Foster lol I still wont mind Opal though

Also, on additional notes, I said NOT to offer me an alternative room if they cant find one on my list, and said "I really want to be in john fosters" - all as a plea to get into John Foster, is my experiment going to work lol?
Very happy with Beaumont (confirmed last month), nice old buildings, great surroundings, maybe the rooms aren't as good as JFO (so i'm told), but it's cheaper, and the JFO buildings are an eyesore IMO.

I hope everyone gets what they want, i;m sure if you're quick you'll get your 1st or 2nd choice.

When did you apply and how long did it take for them to process? But how can it be confirmed last month, if results came out today? Or were you unconditional?

Was Beaumont your 1st choice?

Sorry for so many questions, like I said im worried I wont get into the Pavillions

I applied for accom in early July, i was unconditional. I think they got back to me within a week, but at this time of year when they're going to be flooded i'd guess it would take longer.

Yeah, Beamont was my 1st choice. I think if you get you're application in before a-level results day, you're certain to get your 1st choice really.

Good luck.
I just got an accomodation offer, ensuite catered in GMS. This wasn't even on my choices! I need to be self-catered otherwise I probably won't eat. But I rang the office and the lady said that I will need accept the offer and move in on the moving day and then request a transfer, what a load of hassle. I can;t understand, I applied in March/April, how could they not put me in any of my choices! Grr.

Just a question, why didn't you put JFO Coppice as your 2nd choice?

Because the coppice is much smaller than the Pavillions apparently, plus I like the Opal, close to uni and modern

Everyone else should update here on what offers theyve recieved for accommodation :yep:

today...I know what yo'll say next, that it doesn't matter when I applied because they will only process my application once my offer is unconditional. :s-smilie: I still wanted to vent a little bit though

I think it's really wierd you got catered, and you didn't ask for it, it's not as if you're late getting you're app in and they've not got much left.

I have no idea when they'll process it, I wouldn't hold your breath, they'll be getting swamped with apps today and tommorow and over the weekend.

History.

Pretty much anything really! - obviously education is a big one, Museum and Heritage management, Civil service, Journalism, Law, Political research, management in public and private sectors. Good all-around degree, like English,

60% of graduate jobs advertised are not degree specific in any case.

I could nearly guarantee that the majority, if not all, of Self-catered John Foster will be gone even before today. Everything goes so quickly. If you want a chance of getting your first, second or third choice, then it should be sent special delivery by tomorrow (midday). Not to scare you or anything, most people will love whatever hall they're in even if it's not their first or second choice.

Why Opal Court by the way?

I would really not want to be a fresher in JFH next year, you're far better off at one of the other Oadby sites.
