Meh, I wasn't not going to still have a wander around them! I'll just have to dedicate a whole afternoon of two to it, in the 1st two weeks of autumn term maybe, instead of a couple of hours inbetween going places.:p: Must have been pretty then. And lots of snow for snow angels, snow queens, snowmen, snowballs and any sledging? Where the map is concerned, I know where the Botanic Gardens are; instead I meant a map of where all the different features and sections in the actual Gardens are in relation to one another.

Good luck!:yy:

A couple of my friends went recently, all the spring flowers are just coming out and it looks lovely!!!

I got an interview for the Sub Warden vacancy  It's not till April though, so I have a bit of time.

I was in the Gardens a couple of weeks ago, they are so nice at this time of year

Hey, anyone got any opinions/photos of Gilbert Murray and Stamford Hall? How close are they to the 'centre' of Oadby village?
Thanks!

Heya!
Im a resident of GMS hall and i love it!
It is pretty much the centre of the student village..... john foster is a minute walk away, beaumont is across the road and digby is just down the hill
It is about a 10 min walk away from asda, and is a minute walk away from the john foster bus stop....which is the first bus stop the bus stops at to go to uni.
It is a mix of self catered and catered accommodation. It has two bars and two laundrettes.
The hall is extremely social, tonnes of events organised...we have had one a week for the past term and loads last term as well! Everyone is really sociable and it is a lovely hall.
The hall itself is a mix of older and newer buildings. There are a few older converted houses around including kent house, shirley house/lodge, GM house and stamford house.... they are all lovely and as far as im aware they are self catered.... im not sure about shirely house. Bowder court is self catered - ensuite and it is really nice, in my opinion it is just as nice as john fosters! Lasdun is the main catered part of GMS... its not as nice looking on the outside but ive heard it is ok on the inside... the rooms are big and it is very social. There are a load more blocks in GMS..... lots more houses etc so GMS is a very large hall!
It is very sociable though and i would reccomend it to anyone!
The hall grounds are very pretty as well!
Ive attached one picture.... its a bit dark to take any more! But the picture shows the view out of my window (i live in GMS halls) and it shows the S bar, laundrette and stamford house in the background.
I hope that post helped!

What are these bedsit things in The Coppice, part of New Hall (John Foster)? I'm well aware that this question has already been asked but there was no answer here or on the Accom sites. So...has anyone seen them or know what they comprise of? Is it like your own bedroom, kitchen and bathroom, or like kitchen and bed in same one room opposite ends and bathroom in another room, or is it like your own bedroom but shared kitchen and bathroom? And any pics?

xxx

PS I will give out +ve rep for anyone that can answer these questions (truthfully and correctly), if that would be amiable to them?;yes;

I have absolutely no idea! At first i thought maybe they're being put in that white house inbetween John Foster and The Coppice, but i can't work it out... i don't have a clue where they're going to be. I just thought it'd be the white house as there's loads of construction going on there...

Yeah ive seen one, one of the girls on the JCR has one.
I was sooo keen on the idea of them until I saw them, they are crap. The room was tiny, barely room to move around.

Basically its a bit of worktop and a big stainless steel oven and a sink with some cupboards above, right next to your bed. Its not even very big about 1.5metres across id say (The kitchen unit that is not the whole room lol!)

Its not like you would imagine a bedsit, its a bedroom with an oven in it basically. I know thats hard to imagine so ill draw a piccy in paint:

+ I cant remember the desk exactly, but I think it was on the wall opposite the wardrobe.

Thanks Louise and thanks for the plan drawing too.:hugs: :yy: *Reps*.

No room, no fridge and oven right next to bed? *Freaks out*. What sized bedsit was that do you know? Because apparently there are 3 different sizes of them: small, medium and large, with the prices ascending accordingly.

Im not actually sure about the fridge, there might have been but the whole unit was stainless steel, so if there was a fridge it was built into that.

Id have taken a guess at it being a small one, as I really see no possible way that they could have made it any smaller

Louise, where were they? In John Foster or the Coppice?
