Hi this thread has been very helpful and I've just got a few silly questions if anyone would be kind enough to answer, regarding John Fosters catered ensuite rooms:

-Basically none of my shirts can be tumbledried and I was wondering what's the best method for drying? Would you buy an airer when you get there for your room? I'm asking as the wardrobes seem to have a lot of shelves with little hanging space as well as there not being a drying room. Just want to know what to expect

-Do the rooms come with a desk lamp? I'd like to make sure as some pictures show that you do but others show people with their own lamps (which I don't have). Of course this could be because they brought their lamp from home, but I don't want to buy one if it's provided (all these costs add up! Student life in a nutshell!)

I'm glad bedsheets, pillow cases and duvet covers are provided, one less thing to worry about.
Very silly little things I know but they've been playing on my mind. Thanks. :o:

TBH most stuff that says 'do not tumble dry' can be tumble dried. I tumble all my stuff regardless in the uni dryers and *touch wood* I've had no problems, oh except for some Spanish guy putting his clothes in ontop of mine black tights but swore blind the machine was empty. Thus meaning I had to very speedily and sneekily rummage through some Spanish dude's half wet pants to retrive my own washing, but you didn't need to know that! Also, I hope to god said Spanish dude isn't on this board and now knows my secret!

If you are that worried about the dryer, buy and airer. I have one but only use it to hang my washing up on after it's been in the dryer to let all the creases drop out = no ironing!! WIN!

Buy a clothes airer, and hang your stuff up in the bathroom (mine was always warm lol)

save money and bring a clothes horse (if you have a heated clothes horse that would be even better), the driers will only damage your clothes with time

Does anyone know whether there is a fridge and/or freezer in the catered flats at John Fosters?? Thanks x

Yeah, there's a small fridge in each flat's kitchen.
If I bring suitcases, is there likely to be enough room under the bed for them? Because it'd be kinda inconvenient for my parents to have to take them home again and wait until after I've unpacked to do so... and then have to wait for me to pack everything when they come to pick me up!

Definitely - I stored my shoes in a couple of crates under there, and had suitcases on top of (and next to) the wardobe. Plenty of room
Sorry for anoter question - does anyone know how many people are in each flat in Ragdale JoFo (premium + ensuite) ?? In the brochure it says up to 5 people, but some people reckon that theres only 4 as they are bigger rooms??
Thanks for all the replies

Was actually worried about the same thing. I'll be staying in Beaumont and I'm also an international student so it would be really inconvenient if there wasn't enough room. :eek3:

It depends on which floor your flat is on. It will either be 4 or 5 to a flat!

Hi, I have a few questions for anyone who knows the answers....

Does anyone know what Staff Flats means if you get Digby? Because everyone else seems to have a colour, so I'm worried about that

and what's the food like at Beaumont?

Thanks

The staff flats are quite odd, they're located behind the old Digby Dining room (from when it was a proper hall of residence) but they're quite large inside, and secluded so you'll have fewer people to disturb.

I didn't realise they let them out to students.
