Weirdest A-level combinations people have gotten in with?

I was told languages are the hardest A-levels, particularly Latin and German? Apparently German has the highest rate of drop-outs between AS and A2 because people find it too difficult?

A girl at my school wants to do Law and she does like Chemistry, Maths, Biology and Eco - I just find it strange she went down the Science-y route if she wants to do Law?!

I do English Lit. and 3 languages - I think it's pretty damn odd that I want to do languages at Uni. :p:

I go to my local all-girls school to do German, as my school doesn't offer it.

At AS, there were 12 girls from that school, and myself and one girl from my school.
Now, at A2, it's just me and one girl from their school
Mine were pretty bog standard!
I'm doing Maths, Further Maths, French, Economics and Physics, and will hopefully be studying Economics and Management.

That's exactly what I did! (except I dopped French after AS). I'm doing Engineering.

Actually, this combination can lead to all sorts of Mathsy options!

People seem to find my combination of subjects weird for some reason-French, German, History & double Maths (especially the last one!) I applied for Law-but you don't really need any specific subjects for it!

You're just weird in general my dear :p:
But yes, the Further Maths was a strange thing when I first heard it!
Someone in my year studying Advanced Higher Biology, French and A Level Geography got into Law at Oxford.

Like the calculations of the litres of paint and canvas size as well as the physics of the picture hanging on the wall  ?

Well, political and economic movements were massively influential to the art of many (if not most) periods.
Bio, Chem, English Literature.

hahahahahahahhahah

its regarded the hardest a level... worse than maths :s-smilie:

Precisely my reasoning! Didn't know that when I applied though!
Haha, I'm totally incapable of doing the simplest things regarding Physics. Why is Simple Harmonic Motion in NO WAY simple?

TBH, they are not really 'weird' combinations. I'd imagine alot of people applying for law at top universities have subjects like physics and maths and economics, politics and french have quite strong links to art history.

I know it's not anything radical... I just listed the best ones I knew and was wondering if anyone had any weirder ones. :s-smilie:
The weirdest combinations are the combinations including a science and an Art subject. For example Further Maths and Art and Design would in my eyes be a weird combination, it is probably what a few Architecture people have. A combination with drama and physics in it would be weird.

I do Latin, English Lit/Lang and Physics and got an offer for Classics.

I really don't know why I did Physics...

It's because you value your life.
Math, Bio, Chem and Psychology. Got accepted for Law. =D

I know of a classmate who's taking Math, Bio, Chem and English Lit, though she's not considering Oxbridge.

I know quite a few people who got in with all non- traditional subjects, which surprised me. For e.g. one girl with geography, psychology and dance (!!)
I did non-traditional subjects and got in to do law (I wanted to be a forensic psychologist when I made my A level choices). I did A level law, psychology, sociology,English lit and AS biology, critical thinking (God knows why) and Politics

I do highers and now adv highers and my subjects were a bit odd for law. Product design, art and design, buisness managment, philosophy, history, english and this year geography, history and english i had no idea what i wanted to be i kept changing my mind!

Woo, same subjects as moi =D
I was thinking about studying chemistry further, but have heard that some unis like you to have Physics as well

Some unis may like you to have physics as well, but from what I remember from applying - two years ago! Can't believe it's that long! - only a couple out of Oxford, Durham, St. Andrews, Edinburgh, Bath and Manchester wanted physics. Most want maths, and I think my offers specified physics because I was doing it.

I can't speak for other unis but the oxford course doesn't require physics - you have a few tutorials on it in first year but only to supplement the physical course. About half the people at my college have physics, and the other have biology, but as that suggests, neither are desperately needed to study chemistry.

Don't be put off chemistry by physics!
