I don't know if my teachers have made a mistake or if I'm misunderstanding something but here is the question:
There are 184 students in a year group
105 of them study Spanish.
103 of them study French
32 of them do not study french or spanish
Draw a venn diagram representing this.

But 105 + 103 + 32 = 240

And there are only 184 students in the year group?

How does that work?

some study french, some study spanish, some study french and spanish

184-32=152

Therefore 152 students are going to take french, spanish or both

to work it out you do:
184-32=152
152-105=47=spanish only
152-103=49french only
49+47=96
152-96=56
56=both
