If you want to go into development career, DESTIN is far superior for Development. The course at Cambridge is not that well regarded. However you get the name Cambridge on your CV which is a matter for eternal debate if it is "better" than LSE

I agree with LSEecon.

Thanks for the responses. I'm more inclined to the LSE but have found it very difficult to find information on the reputation of various institutions so I appreciate the responses!

After some reflection I think I need to be more probing.

On what basis do you think that the LSE is "vastly superior" to Cambridge for Development?

Also, do you think that going to the LSE over Cambridge would make a big difference in terms of subsequent employment within the field of Development?

Any thoughts would be great...
I can't see any way that these courses are sufficiently different to overcome your personality. If you are a complete dork, no-one is going to want to employ you wherever you got your degree. If you are a decent individual who is going to add value to your employer, be a good team player, leader etc then they aren't going to bother with the minutiae of perceived differences between LSE and Cam or any other top end institutions. When the differences are this small, far more important is that you personally flourish in the academic and social environment, so that you can make the most of the opportunities offered in either location.

I`m afraid that comment wasn`t useful in the slightest. Any helpful thoughts?

the podcast by the head of DESTIN gives a pretty good overview of the Masters program at LSE in comparison to other programs across the world. Its somewhat unbiased and I found it to be a good resource.

I thought it was a very helpful comment. While it might not be spoon-feeding you the answer, it's asking you to think what environment you will flourish in, and that the differences are far more perceived than real, so you should focus more on where you want to be rather than which one might be better, as they are top notch programs any ways.

Congratulations on your offers, and sorry if this isn't helpful either!
