Advice on American high school system

I'm currently in Year 11 and I will be sitting my GCSEs in May/June. My family and I will be moving to Florida in the end of June and I was wondering whether GSCEs are necessary? Do they count for anything? I know I'm definitely going to try and focus more on Maths, English and the Sciences since 4 years of each core subject is required to complete high school. However, shall I drop subjects like History, RE and French if there's no point in doing them?

Also, what grade will I be in: Sophomore or Junior?

Thanks xxx
Year 11 is sophomore in America so next year you'd be a junior.
I don't think the GCSEs would count to anything as in high school You get credits from classes and you need a certain amount to graduate, but obviously the school will take into consideration your circumstances
