Gym/Fitness: Please could someone give me a good gym routine?

I am very new to gym/exercise and only really have the confidence to do things when I am following a routine or instructions!
Please could somebody give me some advice or a routine for a female for cardio, abs, bums and legs work out please? I am aiming to go 3 times a week and do some weight machines too!

All beginners should begin by reading the FAQ at the top of the fitness page, even if you don't think you need to you'll probably learn something

You could just alternate steady state cardio with HIIT and then go round the machines that hit the body parts you want to train and do 3x8-12 reps but that's a bit of a crap plan. Really what you need to do is start by defining your goal (not the things you want to do) and then look into the most effective way of achieving that.
