Not being in a city doesn't affect your social life, you affect your social life. If anything, living in a campus bubble in your first year makes things easier socially, because everyone is right next to each other and things aren't watered down with city chavs and such. And there is plenty of stuff on campus - the Union has lots of club-type nights, if you've seen the campus you'll know that everything else is supplied (restaurants, supermarkets, bars, banks, gym, sports facilities, everything). And of course there are buses waiting to take you into Coventry and Leamington Spa on days and nights out (or trains onto Birmingham if you prefer) and taxis waiting to take you back at 3 in the morning.

Being a History of Art student at Warwick, you should have lots of time for a social life at least...
The only thing to consider is that if you are used to all the joys that a city has to offer then you may start to get a little fed up after a while. Living on campus first year was fine, it had all my friends close by which was great and the social life was alright. Since moving off campus to Leamington Spa I have found it difficult to deal with living in such a small town, it can be very dull at times. I'm used to having so much culture on offer at home, art galleries, museums, theatres, bars, clubs - everything and at times Leamington seems to offer nothing at all. Sure there are bars and two clubs, and it is who you are with that makes the time enjoyable. Birmingham is close and good fun. Campus has Warwick Arts Centre which is the most fantastic place ever. Just warning you that Leamington and Coventry and even campus can seem very dull at times if you are used to having the delights of a big city, especially for those moments when everyone is busy or you just want to do something on your own.

To be fair, I found Coventry to have loads to do and loads of fun to be had. Meh. I guess I must just be a small town kind of person.

Had loads of fun though.

Most of the time there is plenty to do. Coventry and Leamington both offer loads of fun. Sometimes though I really miss being somewhere bigger. I'm from Liverpool and love being able to wander round for hours and go to all the museums and galleries, parks and gardens, have a choice of cool art house cinemas and theatres, all right there in front of me. Most people I know have no problem with Leamington, I sometimes wonder why I am living in the middle of nowhere though. Only occasionally though...and the good stuff cancels out those thoughs. Arts centre, Stratford, Birmingham being close, leamingtons good choice of pubs, friends...

The nightlife in Cov isn't great compared to someplace like B'ham (only a short train ride away) or Liverpool or Manchester, but it's not half bad.

But then again, why am I (a Cov student) encouraging someone to go to Warwick?

Remember, Cov v Warwick is always fun when drunk. Lots of singing.

It's near Leamington spa, if that means anything.

The people that beat Cov uni pretty much every time when I was there! haha.

I now live in Leeds, which is a lot bigger than Cov, but Cov worked just as well for me. I guess it depends on what you want and who you make friends with.

Wrong place to put that: Ive heard a few good ones over my time here, eg Your Dad works for my dad.

On the orginal question, its what you make of it really, well to an extent at least. I am last year was great as the workload wasnt that substancial and everyone lived very close indeed, coupled with plenty of time on our hands much socialising took place. Afterwards there is still good fun to be had, theres tonnes of stuff to do leam, cov and the surrounding areas. Going out in Cov isnt fantastic as its just loaded with Cov students, as most Warwickers duell in Leam. So despite living in Cov, still tend to go out in leam alot more often. However since year 2 computer science is evil and free time is a rarity (only posting here in momentary procrastination) and doing things other than work havent happened too often recently, let alone having a night out. But there is still plenty about for when you do have time, for me being a country bumkin theres more than enough in these places of keep me happy, but those seasoned city duellers can find plenty of entertaining pursuits in Birmingham, a short train, bus journey or drive away. But tbh I find if you have a decent crowd it doesnt really matter where you are, you can still have a damm good time

I sometimes wonder why I am living in the middle of nowhere though. .

Middle of nowhere LOL!
A decent sized town only 10 - 15 miles from the heart of the West Midlands is anything but the middle of nowhere.

You would be mad to choose Warwick over UCL and even madder to choose Cambridge over either of the two. It isn't a particularly hard decision to make...

Well, I chose to apply to Warwick over UCL. Partly because of expenses, don't particularly want to go to London right now - and I consider them to be at least on a par. It's down to personal preference as well, e.g. some do like a campus atmosphere. So maybe the OP is weighing up all these factors and finding it difficult to decide.

And I think you meant mad to choose either of the two over Cambridge. Yes, it's hard work (obviously), but I agree with that part.

Feels like it sometimes. It's just different living in Leamington to living at home that's all...

Leam is small fry. Cov isnt bad for nights out,

Students nights;

JJs on Tuesday
Lava/ignite on Wednesdays
Colly (now Kasbah) on Fridays

Warwick SU for when things get really desperate, or TopB on mondays. Otherwise avoid at all costs.

Have yet to visit Covs SU, but i'll get round to it eventually.

For some reason, going out by yourself in Cov is much easier than in Leam, everyone is very friendly and easy to chat to. Whereas at Evolve or Smack it doesnt have the right atmosphere for being by yourself.
