What course are you looking to study? You can find out the demographics of the course (i.e. what percentage of students on the course are non-UK) here. The percentage is going to be fairly small, as it largely attracts only students from the North East of England. Middlesbrough has plenty of ethnic minorities, but it has a lot of poor people too which increases the chances of racism. The people you're studying with won't be so narrow-minded, though, as they'll be part of the aspirational middle class.
