Lt General McMaster resigns from position as Trump's National Security Advisor

H.R McMaster marks the latest in a string of high profile staffers exiting the White House over the last few weeks, despite assurances from the administration's Press Secretary that his relationship with Trump was good and there would be no changes less than a week ago. McMaster was appointed to the post of National Security Advisor after the departure of Michael Flynn as a result of his undisclosed ties to Russia, and has yet to issue a statement regarding his resignation.

McMaster is set to be succeeded by John Bolton, who previously served under Bush Jr's administration. Often described as a war hawk, Bolton advocated for preemptive strikes against Iran in 2005 and against North Korea last month, and for increased military intervention in Iraq and Syria up to and including the formation of an entirely new state to replace the aforementioned countries. He has also featured in materials produced by a Russian pro-gun organisation campaigning for looser gun laws in the country, and heads a self-named superPAC supporting conservative candidates that previously employed the services of embattled data analytics service Cambridge Analyitca.

They've probably got a dead pool going, anyone who survives until Trump leaves office gets to split the jackpot so they've at least got something to show for their time in the circus.
