durham is an outstanding uni as is bristol, warwick and bath. if you want answers go on uni stats and compare the ucas points for your course in durham against that in ox and camb. youl probably notice the diff in ucas points between ox and cam is same as that between ox and durham. so does that mean ox is a step down from cambridge?does it ****! durham is a great uni and youl learn as much there as at oxbridge if you work as hard as those in oxbridge.
Yes to the first no and yes to the first yes. That is, the no that was the first word and the yes that was the second word, both being in the second post (or the first reply) of this thread.
Virtually no-one at Durham thinks Durham=Oxbridge.
Doxbridge is a sporting competition between Durham, Oxford and Cambridge based on the fact that they all have collegiate systems unlike most other unis. Then people come along and think
Barrelizer
is [Doxbridge] just made up by people who get into durham trying to bolster the university's reputation?
and then people like Profesh come along and say "yes".
Well, actually, no guys, that's *******s.
It’s like people who laugh at people who say things like ‘thought shower’ as opposed to ‘brain storm’ because for every person who says ‘thought shower’ there are 10 that take the piss out of them.
Durhamites are, on the whole, quite happy in Durham. We're not part of Oxbridge and we don't kid ourselves about it. We quite like our 10 week terms in which we can get similar amounts of work done, but spread over a longer time, giving us extracurricular opportunities (or simply the option of some lie-ins) that simply don't exist at Doxbridge. We like our Cathedral and we like our Castle. Sure, we'd like to have the one-on-one teaching Oxbridge does, but oh well, we don't get that. And we also like to take the piss out of people who use Doxbridge in any non-sporting sense because, frankly, they’re ignorant. We also like to take the piss out of people who think we refer to ourselves as Doxbridge for the exactly the same reason.

Do you actually think this or are you just guessing?

Anyone that tells you anything other than this is definitely not a Durham student. Or at least is not a realistic one.

There is no 'Doxbridge' (academically-speaking) that exists in any meaningful sense except among a handful of deluded Oxbridge-rejects within Durham itself.

That's ok then, I thought for a minute there that you were refering to all of us
