Hello, I am currently applying for teaching posts after a break of 3 years after the birth of my youngest child. I have one term left to complete my NQT. I am very conscious of the large amount of competition for a lot of the teaching posts and I’m concerned I will not stand out from the crowd due to not having any additional skills/activities i.e. hobbies and outside interests. There are a lot of candidates with sporting interests or musical abilities that I feel make them stand out more as a candidate. I am a busy mother of 3 children who has no time to take on any outside hobbies, is this likely to affect my chances? Thanks!

What might you offer the school in terms of extra-curricula? Are you interested in reading (book clubs), cinema (cinema trips), theatre (theatre trips)? Are you passionate about a particular subjects like science (science trips), or tech? That sort of thing?
