My Bowels I dont think are working correctly!!.......

Ok, I haven't been for a poo since Tuesday and im starting to be abit concerned. I have eatin loads of foods that potentially are suppose to make you go but, nothing seems to be happening. My mum is aware of this and started me on the Prebiotic drinks. They started working immediately and I was going once a day however, i stopped drinking them and now re started again and nothing seems to be happening. A lot has gone in the past 2weeks and i was on n off the toilet however, since Tuesday finding out my results I have noticed I haven't been. My family are aware of this and are moaning to me that its not right and is disgusting, but if i cant go - I cant go :frown: :frown:

I remember when I was going on holiday last year and i'm pretty nervous at flying and was on and off the toilet loads before boarding the aeroplane. When i got to the destination, i hadnt been for one whole week.

I have begun to notice that such episodes seem to happen when I go loads through nervousness - when the nervousness leaves my body, i don't seem to go for a good whole week.:frown:

Anyone got any ideas as to what is causing this??? As its also starting to make me feel a tad unwell, like today and yesterday I felt sick and tired.

I know your pain! I've suffered from chronic constipation for the past few weeks and it is awful! Same as you, I've been eating and drinking all the things that are meant to make you go and it's not working!

Make sure you eat loads of fruit and vegetables - 6, 7, 8 portions a day. Drink LOADS of water to prevent the stools from getting any harder - 2 and a half litres a day. When you get up first thing in the morning, drink a cup of hot water with lemon, and maybe try this a few times during the day, then try to go afterwards. Supposedly drinking a large glass of water every half hour is meant to make you go. Eat yoghurts, and bananas are supposed to be good. And eat dried apricots and prunes! Prune juice is supposedly very good for getting you going! Try massaging your stomach for a few minutes, and do some exercise to get things moving.

Alas, I've tried all the above and it hasn't had any effect  But as yours has only been a few days hopefully you should be able to sort it quickly. I wouldn't recommend laxatives - they can have some very nasty side effects! There's things like DulcoEase which aren't laxatives (beware of Dulcolax!) but are meant to soften stools, but I don't know if they work. Try not to get too anxious about it, as the more stressed you get about not going, the less likely you will be able to go.

^^Thanks for the advice.

I will try your advice tomorrow and see how I get on - knowing my luck i will be at work and then desperate to go. lol

Yea my mum done Reflexology to try and help the stomach, i can honestly say it just made me pass wind but, no poo. I live on yogurts, i eat one a day, i drink 2 hot drinks a day, one peppermint in the morning and a hot chocolate at night to help me sleep.

Yea, laxatives are out the question for me - have heard some stories and I really don't want to go down that root - will just keep trying home remedies to help me go.

Ye im trying to not stress now, just that my mum keeps asking me and im like ''no'' and she is like ''why'' and im like ''i dont know'' and it kinda starting to get on my nerves. Everyone in my family tell me they go at least once a day if not once, twice and im like ''oh right, add more pressure to me trying to go''.

^ Twice a day! Seems a tad excessive.

Anon 2: have you been to your GP about it?

go to the doctor

Lol ain't it weird how everyone wants to discuss your toilet habits when you're constipated?! Well good luck lol! Eat loads of cereal too, and licorice! Maybe brussels sprouts and cabbage and broccoli could be a good bet too?!

Try a big cup of strong coffee.

Nope...I know the only thing a doctor can do about it involves a gloved finger! And I definitely don't want that! I've got a doctor and a nurse for parents so I've had to bite the bullet and ask them what would help! Not been much good though :frown:

^^Yikes - I definately do not want to go to the Dr then. Will just work on home remedies and hope for the best. Thanks Anon 2.

I can give you the advice of 'don't get 20+ apricots in one day' They do NOT make you go!
I've heard honey can be good. You could test it out and report back!

have you tried prunes and prune juice?

Reply 14

No I haven't tried the Prunes yet, I meant to buy some today but I forgot :frown: Might pop to my local Tesco one stop shortly and see what I can find.

laxatives? go to your GP, you may have IBS or some other Bowel condition, modern medicine is wonderful.

If you refuse to go the medical route then eat fruit, veg, lots of water, and fiber fiber fiber, pack it in there. Wholewheat cereals, wholeweat bread, wheetabix and shreddies are supposedly very good. Or go back to the laxatives.

Laxatives are a no no but thanks for mentioning it. I will just stick to lots of fruit and plenty of fluid.

Okay, seriously gross but... your bowels are pretty long! If you go twice a day for ages (excessive really) the chances are that if you change something slightly they'll be working differently and instead of clearing your body straight away... things will back up a bit like before. Just stop worrying unless you're in discomfort.

I'm starting to get random aches and pains in my tummy now.

Passing wee and wind but, nothing else :frown:

Went out and got some prunes and i think it has made some movement but, haven't been yet.

I think if this carries on til Tuesday - I will go Dr's.:frown:

for the love of god, the OP is obviously suffering from something quite painful and possibly quite worrying, stop being so heartless!
