Below I have copy and posted my subjects at school and what I personally believe I might get, entry requirements for colleges I've been accepted into and the requirements for the subjects I wish to do.

One problem is at aquinas I have to get a B/6 in maths to do economics but I'm doing foundation maths which only goes to a grade 5

Would I be able to do any of my chosen subjects if I failed maths or english in school and retook them in college along side the chosen subjects or would that door for my subjects be closed forever.

PE btec merit (I have already got a merit in the final exam, and all merits on all my units of work so far, I just have one left)

Maths foundation 4 possibly 5

English literature 4

English language 4

Biology 4-5

Physics 3-5

Chemistry 3-5

Business 4/5/6

Geography 4/5 maybe a 6

Technology(resistant materials) 4/5 possibly a 6

AQUINAS college

Business-5 GCSEs A*-C English GCSE grade B, Maths GCSE grade C

Economics-5 GCSEs A*-C Maths GCSE grade B and English GCSE grade B

Psychology- 5 GCSEs A*-C Maths, English GCSE grade B, Science GCSE grade C and a minimum G-Score of 5.5

The G-score is a numerical value assigned to a student’s GCSE grades: A*=8, A=7, B=6, C=5, D=4, E=3, F=2, G=1, U=0. We then divide the total score by the number of GCSEs taken.
For example, Victoria has 6 GCSEs with a total of 26 points. 26/6=G-Score 4.33

XAVERIAN college

You will need six passes at GCSE including two at Grade 6.

You should have passed two or more of English, Science and Maths.

Some advanced level courses have their own specific entry requirements.
If you have passed applied courses (eg BTEC) and also have some core GCSEs at grade A*-C we will negotiate an appropriate course, that may include BTEC programmes.

Psychology-Grade 4/5 in English Language or Literature. Grade 5 GCSE Maths.

Business-Grade 4 or above GCSE English Lang or Literature. Grade 5 or above Maths

Economics-Grade 4/5 in GCSE English Language. Grade 5 in GCSE Maths recommended. Grade 4 in GCSE Science recommended.

LORETO college

College Entry requirements:

Six GCSEs 9-4 (or A*-C). Two at least grade 6 (or B)

Economics-Six GCSEs 9-4 (or A*-C). Two at least grade 6 (or B)

Psychology- Six GCSEs 9-4 (or A*-C). Two at least grade 6 (or B)

Business-Six GCSEs 9-4 (or A*-C). Two at least grade 6 (or B)

Bit complex for me. never very good on string or eightball questions.

Youve made me read it now, as I hate walking away due to guilt, but my instinct was run.

Realistically you need to call each college and ask them.

OP it is down to the college, only they can give you the answer, plus we dont have your actual results, so that doesnt really help.

1. Aquinas
If they require English and Maths and you dont get English and Maths , then I would be surprised if they let you proceed on a Psychology course.
You are also unlikely to get 5.5 assuming youd failed as you would need A's and A* to compensate.

2. Xaverian- As you need English and Maths, then unlikely imo they will let you onto the course. You will also have failed the entry criteria fir the college in general 2/3 of Science, maths, English.

3. Loreto
Yes in theory, but you have to pass all your other GCSE and 2 of them must be 6 or higher. The reason you cna make it here is because as stated there are no requirements for English and Maths, just for GCSE.

Make things easy for yourself and work hard then pass English and Maths.

You should contact Aquinas explain you wish to do psych but you are limited to a 5 due to foundation. they may be unwilling t let you in or may set you additional target for the other GCSE.

Its difficult to say either way without knowing your actual results. You just have to think which criteria you can meet most readily.. Imo it wouldnt make sense to proceed to Psychology if you fail English and Maths..

Think thats me done.

Sorry but some of that was complicated to read but to answer your thread question, if you fail english (I think) then you can still take psychology but if you fail maths then I don't think you can. Not saying you should fail either but try your best so you can get the best grades possible and the A-levels of your choice x
