Obscure languages at SOAS

Does anyone have any perspectives on how good it would be (in terms of student experience, quality of teaching, employability, and all the other usual factors) to study a slightly more 'obscure' language at university? I'm specifically thinking of SOAS (Vietnamese, Indonesian, etc.) as part of a dual honours with a non-language subject but any info/comments welcome
