I chose Lincoln's for my scholarship just because I liked it more when I visited. Inner is lovely too. Haven't been to Middle or Gray's. To be honest I don't really think it matters a great deal which Inn you join.

Lincoln because it seems to have the largest number of scholarships based on merit, and also makes it clear about its provisions for OOL students on its website. Of course, this could change completely over the next two years :p:

Lincoln's has the most scholarships but the worst ratio of scholarships to students. I think Gray's has the best ratio. It seems a lot of people make the mistake of applying based on total scholarships rather than the prospects of getting one.

Does anyone the relative size of the different Inns? Specifically, the numbers at the junior end of the spectrum? I suppose the easiest way to assess the latter would be the size of the respective inns' students associations; I'm unsure whether this information is in the public domain though. It's something I shall be asking each of them later this year when I come to join one, but since the topic of different Inns is being discussed, I thought I'd ask.

Lincoln's is the one most chancery barristers go to. That's another thing to take in to account.

Lincoln's is the most snobbish, from what I hear.

I don't know numbers but am fairly sure that Lincoln's has the largest student population, Gray's the smallest, Inner and Middle in between.

How do you know? I thought you are going to be a solicitor? I'm a member of Lincoln's Inn and have been to several dinners and can say it's really not that snotty. There are some exceptions who you will meet, but that's the same with anything.

I'm not liking the way the Bar gets ripped on TSR for not being diverse enough/or being "snobbish" when very few people take into account the fact that the solicitor side of the profession still remains quite conservative.

Of course Solicitors have no idea about the inns of court?

Errm well probably not. My post was drawing attention to the fact you can't make generalised comments about something on the basis of what you have merely heared. Only people who are members of an Inn/have been before or have proper experience of it can really judge whether it is "snobbish".

Or people who deal with members of the inn regularly ...
Lincoln's all the way! The students have spirit, one chucked a paper aeroplane at his mate from the balcony in the library and it landed perfectly in my bag.

Its a great place.
Absolutely love it.
Yes it is really beautiful. Incidentally I was there during the terrorist attacks in London. The clark for the Chambers I was with ran in to tell us what had happened.

^Ha, so the advice is: if you want breaking news as it develops, opt for Lincoln's inn.
Definitely!
