I have just been revising ‘ Charge of the Light Brigade’ and I’m not sure which poem to link it to out of the power and conflict anthology. There are the obvious comparisons but I’m aiming for grade 8/9 😊 please help!

Obvious links would be the other war-centric poems such as remains, but personally, for the higher grade, links in terms of memory could be made. Try linking to kamikaze in terms of the injustice which the characters experienced for just doing their duty- hope this helped!

Bear in mind that the exam question will guide you, so it might say something like 'Charge of the Light Brigade shows the futility of war. Compare it with another poem from the anthology which shows a similar view'. Of course, the suggestion of 'Kamikaze' above would fit in well with this. If the question was about the power shown through leadership, Ozymandias might be a better choice.
