Hi, im planning on going to University this September to study PPE. Im not sure on what uni to pick as both are good Unis to go to and both have offered me a place if I get ABB at A-levels. Realistically, im not going to achieve ABB so im putting either Essex or Goldsmiths as my backup but im not sure what Uni I should put as my main choice?

If anybody could offer me any insight into the universities and what may be the better option that would be great thanks.

Do you want to live in Norwich or Egham for three years?

Hello there!

Whilst I can't speak for RHUL, I can speak for UEA, as I received my undergraduate degree in Politics there

Our PPE course sits within UEA's Economics school, which is currently 2nd for course satisfaction, and currently ranks within the top 20 economics departments in the UK!(Guardian). The university itself is currently ranked 12th in the UK

Which areas of the subjects are you most interested in? The staff within the Economics school are highly regarded for their expertise in many key areas, and this was definitely my experience as a Politics student too - it allowed me to specialise in the area which I was most interested in (the politics of the European Union).

My experience of UEA outside academia has also been overwhelmingly positive. I was first drawn to UEA after I attended a visit day, and found the atmosphere on campus to be hugely social and positive - with a bustling campus square and other hangout spots such as the cafes and the bar, as well as massive clubnights at the LCR.

The 200+ clubs & societies on campus massively contribute to the student experience; we are very fortunate to have Student's Union which provides so much support to societies, from club funding to committee member training - meaning that our clubs and societies remain active and are run professionally. Take a look at our huge list of clubs to join here!

Have you attended a UEA visit day? If you haven't, I thoroughly recommend it if you are struggling to make up your mind - our next visit days are available here!

Norwich is also a beautiful and historic city - the Norman era castle looks down upon the impressive Norwich Cathedral and the surrounding cobbled streets - perfect if you're interested in the wealth of local history! There is also a great deal of choice when it comes to shopping with Intu Chapelfield and Castle Mall, as well as a wide array of restaurants, bars and pubs. A lot of the pubs have interesting quirks and themes, including the option of a pub crawl by canoe! Check out some of the other options here.

I hope this has given you a good snapshot of what UEA is like - feel free to come back at me with any questions!
