Ever wondered what this new fangled Formula E malarkey is, well here is the TSR's thread about it (remember folks, this is a thread for everyone to talk about Formula E, possibly other motorsport and under no circumstances should there be any discrimination against others (unless your trash talking teams / drivers then by all means go for it...but keep it PG-12).
So Formula E has been around since 2013 and is essentially a winter series that takes place when most other series are on their winter holidays.
All cars have been using the same chassis (Spark Racing Technologies - Dallara SRT_01E) and components since season 1, however since season 2 (2015/2016), all car manufacturers can use their own electric motors and gearboxes (drivetrains).
In season 4, the cars produce 200kW (~266.7BHP) in qualifying and are limited to 180kW (240BHP) in races. Unlike most series however, FE uses something called "Fan Boost", where fans vote on twitter & facebook (if people still use it) to give 3 drivers extra energy to use during the second part of the races (more on that in a bit).
With Formula E, there is a very unusual thing which happens and that is car swapping. As the SRT_01E is unable to maintain a full charge for a race distance, drivers are allowed to change to a second car to use after the 1st one runs out of energy. It is in the second car which drivers can use the Fan Boost but said fan boost also drains energy, so drivers have to be careful when to use it.
Season 5 (2018/2019) there is a massive change coming however with the SRT_05E and drivers can run the whole race on a single charge. This car is radically different and resembles a batmobile. Said new car will be able to produce 250KW (~330BHP) in qualifying and 220KW (~293BHP) in races.

In terms of Teams, most of the teams are affiliated with mainstream automotive manufacturers or are electric car startup firms, with new manufacturers (Porsche, Mercedes, BMW to a lesser degree) in the next 2 years.
So, yh people, feel free to discuss about FE
