my first week at UCL:)

Hey ppl, remember me?! :smile:

My first week is officially over :smile:

I’ve met quite a few ppl,they seem to be very friendly. There are some who isolated themselves but overall it’s a very good and friendly atmosphere. I’m having a really good time, getting to know ppl. The majority of ppl I’ve met are gonna be doing straight maths and there’s only like 3 who are doing my course, dunno where every1 else is :smile:

On my first day, wen I walked into the room to register, every1 was sitting in their groups and talking to each other, I’ve started panicing ,I thought oh no! they all know each other already but after like 10 mins or so I was fine.

Out of all the ppl I’ve met, there’s quite a few who will be staying at home, so don’t worry Dajo&LinLee, we aint the only ones :wink:

Some of the stuff, we are being taught at the moment is difficult and even tho’ I’ve done Further Maths I still find it hard so I’m kinda pleased I didn’t choose to do straight maths. Every single formula that ur using needs to be proved, which is kinda annoying cos I don’t like why this, why that kinda thing.
The way of teaching is soooo different from school, if u don’t understand smth u cant jus stop the lecturer and ask to explain, u jus have to see him individually afterwards. Now, I m starting to understand whats it like to miss one lecture cos trust me so many topics are being covered in one lecture and if u miss it ur f***d up.

On Friday, some of us went to the UCL bar. It was really nice!!! :smile:

About the freshers events:

The tickets to the comedy night have been sold out already and I didn’t get one either but apparently they repeat the comedy night quite often during the year, so u can always go and see it later.

Almost every1 single person I’ve spoke to, has already bought their ticket to the freshers ball but not many seem to be in a rush to buy tickets for other events. Every1 is kinda waiting….Out of all the events freshers funk and 2phat for freshers seem to be popular options. By the way I’ve got my tickets already, better be early than late. :smile:

Sounds like you are doing well... you must be looking forward for uni to kick off... I on the other hand have mixed feelings about starting... 2 phat for freshers seems like a popular event and so is the freshers ball... cocktails at windeyer thursday night, supposed to be good i've been told (better than huntley street where i've also been told that the medics are a complete bore :eek:

and yay, not everyone is on halls! lol
i think the work atfirst will be quite difficult, cause it's a completely new way of teaching. but hopefully we just need to get used to it and then we'll be fine!

And dont worry u' ll be absolutely fine once u get there.
The only thing i'm worried bout right now is going to the freshers funk by myself :redface:

None of the ppl I've been hanging around with are going to this thing on monday but i've already bought my ticket which means i definitely am. I dont really see myself walking on my own, into the bar full of strangers :smile:

yeah every1 is nervous, even I am! but not as much as i was before :smile:

After these last two weeks i m even more excited, i really cant wait to proper start now!

Anyway, hope u do get the tickets for those freshers events. And yeah we probably will see each other on econ lectures, but i doubt we ever find out who is who :biggrin:
