my parents aren't letting me live in dorm/uni accommodation, i will be living in an apartment a few minutes walk from uni.
how will i be able to socialize and make friends without going clubbing or drinking?

You can still make friends & socialise without going clubbing or drinking - there are quite a few students who don't do either of the two because they just don't enjoy that kind of thing and they get on just fine! You can join societies that interest you so you meet people with something in common to you, talk and get to know people in your classes etc.
