Random and unpredictable grades or results

Ive chosen what course to study (business) but I am really unsure which universities to choose from. Everyone gets 6 places to apply to, but I want help in choosing the 6 places.

I am quite a clever person but my laziness and how i feel effects how well I do - my unpredictable grades and randomness.

I got a C in Computing, C in History, D in Maths and D in General Studies for my AS results this year. I predicted lower grades and aimed to achieve higher grades. (aren't I confusing).

I see my AS grades as a fail to myself because I am not up to standard of what I should get or suppose to get? (i should stop confusing myself....) This year I am going to resit some exams and really try hard to at least get around CCC in A2. I would really like BBB but it sounds too much but too easy. (Tell me shut up...)

I would really like a good university to go to, but with only 6 places to choose from I dont know whether to risk and apply for 6 high universities or to have 2 high, 2mid, 2 low safety kind of thing. What do you think I should do? I dont want go to crap universities (sorry I offended some) but....I'll shut up you get my point!

Thanks for replying to this thread or post or message or.....
Choose six you really want to go to. Don't bother with the "I'll pick a low one to make sure" thing, as you'll only end up hating it. You can always go through Extra, Clearing or reapply next year if you do feck it all up.

I think you should pick unis with varied offers, but only ones that you would actually want to go to, not just becaus they'll give u a low offer!

I need real statistical guidance.... What the probability of a university letting you in out of your 6? Whats the probability of having all 6 reject you? What the probability you dont get the grades and they let you in? Whats the probability of just not getting the grades at all? Whats the probablity you get into your very first choice university? Im sure theres some kind of nation statistics? lol

I base alot of decisions on probability...

You can't work out probabilities for that!! There are too many unknown variables to get any realistic probability (which unis, what they offer, predicted grades, other factors etc)

Don't worry too much about the crap grades you got in AS, just try really hard to make them better.

I got D in Maths, Physics and C in ICT and ahem......E in Art in AS.
but in A2 i got two Bs in Physics and Maths and 1 mark off an A in ICT AS.

all you have to do is work hard at it.

You could also, I don't know if anyone has tried it, but...
e-mail the undergrad admissions team before you select them through UCAS, asking them what would be the likeliness of them accepting you with the grades you have at GCSE and AS level, and predicted A2 grades.

When I was emailing people with application questions I found they got back to me really quickly...usually within 48 hours.

If you want them to know your identity - let them know. If you don't...don't! They can't force you to tell them who you are! (Although they'll know if your name comes up on the email!) And you know, it might help if they know who you are...maybe they'll remember your name and who knows? Your application might just get accepted!

Good luck
