I would like to do medicine as a course in uni and know that you need work experience that lasts around 6 months to show commitment. I'm planning to work once a week but was wondering if there is a specific number of hours that is needed to be done per week?

Hi,

There is no set number for expected hours. Universities can be quite vague on what they mean as a 'good' amount of experience.

For care home experience, I would say 1-2 hours on a weekly basis for 3-6 months shows consistency and commitment to the voluntary placement. What is also important is what you plan to gain from the placement, keep a diary and reflect on what you have actually done/learnt from the experience.

Good luck!
