Should all 25 year olds be given a £10,000 "inheritance"?

All UK-born citizens should be given £10,000 as a “universal minimum inheritance” when they turn 25 to help address growing wealth inequality, a thinktank has proposed.

Tax reforms and a selloff of assets including the government’s stake in Royal Bank of Scotland could help create a citizens’ wealth fund worth £186bn by 2029/30, the Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR) said.
Such a fund would give everyone a stake in the economy and help young people invest in their futures, for example through buying a property, investing in education or starting a business, according to a report for the IPPR Commission on Economic Justice.

The fund could be large enough to pay all 25-year-olds a one-off capital dividend of £10,000 from 2030.

Wait, why at the age of 25?
everyone who turned 25 the year before this was introduced would be pretty pissed off.
It is a subjective argument, personally, I would prefer an enhanced Universal credit system with a taper rate of 20% and a regionally adjusted benefit cap with taxation revenue e.g. VAT and expenditure of capital to be devolved to regional parliamentary oversight. Alternatively, a national education system rallied by the current labour party or the elimination of past plus future uni loans would be, arguably, a better method of shifting our LRAS to the right at the margin, ceteris paribus. Alternatively, a lower rate of VAT to the margin would expand the disposable income of people at the bottom rung of society, as they spend a large proportion of their income on g/s, thus leading to a higher savings rate or expenditure on normal goods against budget constraints.

Helpfully, it is stated in the OP.

The think tanks never think of this. They're too busy thinking up crackpot ideas to justify their jobs to come up with anything logical. It will never happen and it shouldn't, ridiculous ideas like this are why so many think tanks have rightly been shut down.

but that could go on things that are actually needed. I can't think why every 25 year old "needs" £10,000. Meanwhile, people are struggling to feed and clothe their children.
YES. And backdate it for those who have reached 25 already, please :colondollar:, by a bit. Basically for all millennials lol
