taly court
senghennydd hall

then student house, i'm only interested in the first two also, how come you chose taly north over south? just out of interest as iv done it the other way round!

How do you apply exactly? Lost my letter, woops! (Also having trouble deciding between Taly N&S!)
Reply 3
Im annoyed i cant apply for halls until i hear back from edinburgh.

but looks like my first choice will be Colum unless anyone has any horror stories to post and the majority opinion is that its not a great place. it looks fine to me, en suite, close to business school and close to city centre.

although i haven't got the offer from Cardiff yet, at interview they were hinting they would ("just because we make no medical offers till March, you don't have to accept offers at other unis...") i really hope this doesn't affect my choice of accomodation in any way (should i get in, of course). does anyone know how they allocate the accomodation, coz if its first come first serve i could be seriously behind...
Reply 5
its first come first served thats why im annoyed with edinburgh
Reply 6
right well im not going there if i have a choice then...

Look, here's the lowdown.

All of the residences at Cardiff University are good! Don't make a stupid decision like "im not going to cardiff because I might not get the accomodation i want".

All of the residences have their pro's and con's. When I found out I got put in University Hall I was totally hacked off because on the map it makes it look like it is a long long way away. But infact, I'm stoked I was put here. It is such an awesome little site and the bar is cool here too.

University life if what you make it. Just chill, take life as it comes. I promise you wont be disapointed where you live.

right well im not going there if i have a choice then...

i dunno if that was directed at what i said which i read now as confusing, ill clarify

im annoyed with edinburgh because they are taking so long to get back to me..therefore, i cant confirm cardiff atm, therefore, i cant apply for halls and therefore, i cant take advantage of the first come first served basis...
Reply 12
couldn't you just reject ediburgh? or are they your insurance or something?
Reply 13
yeah well, i got a conditional for the one i think im using as my insurance.but if i get an unconditional from edinburgh i might choose them as an insurance just so i know for a fact that im going somewhere next year.

It was a tough decision on my insurance in the first place so id be quite happy going to edinburgh.

Surely if you havent got exam results yet you'll get a conditional offer anyway. They only give unconditional offers if you already have your results.

No, last year i got AAAB in my highers, but i didnt get Higher English, hence why thats my only condition for Strathclyde..some courses dont need higher english and therefore AAAB should be fine

It's only Cardiff who want me to get Bs in two more highers and two advanced highers which i thought was a bit steep coz thats effectively asking for AAAAABBB at higher level.

Just wanted to say if anyone has any questions about anything to do with Cardiff or studying psychology here send me a PM and I'll do my best to help...also, if I remember rightly last year people were getting their first option even if they weren't sending their residences form in until March time...so don't worry, you do still have time
xxx.

i've sent mine off now and i'm just worrying i've made a mistake with the order.
I've put Talybont Court as my top choice which is worrying anyway as i don't know if i can reeeally afford it. But i've heard rumours that people in Taly court aren't that sociable. Which is scary! Surely it just depends on the people you're with?
Reply 18
i don't think you can really make a general, sweeping statement like that. I mean, it's hardly like there's something in the water there that makes people unsociable.

I reckon someone probably went one year and found that that particular year a lot of the people they came across weren't nice to them so they started saying that Taly court people are unsociable.

Really it's the sort of thing that changes every year.
Reply 19
well wherever i am, i am not going to be unsociable! or stand for other people being unsociable.
Cardiff is gonna be wicked, and we should all meet up when we get there.
