Yep, same with me. I wonder if we get any sort of welcome pack at all, perhaps after we've confirmed our accommodation?

Yeh I got my UCAS letter this morning. Be nice to get one from Cardiff; just to make sure they remember I exist!

They send us a party bag, containing a paper hat, a yoyo and some sweets :woo:

Haha I must rep you for that.

Do I get a free toy as well?

Edit: I suppose that would be the yoyo. I'll go for anthrax instead, then.
I think all the females getting agitated and dashing off angry e-mails to the Accommodations office should remember that results day was only on Thursday and that the confirmations could be being sent out in batches according to anything from UCAS number, date of birth, course or even completely randomly.

So let's be a bit more male about this and calm down. You're not going to be homeless.

Hmm what? I'm female and have the logical capacity to realise it's only Saturday. Bit of an uncalled for comment imo. I've only seen one user in the thread admit to emailing the residences office.
Alright, a question for anyone that knows really (including current Cardiff students):

If you get allocated accommodation you REALLY don't want, how easy is it to phone up and get it changed quickly and easily? Or are you obligated to accept the one they give you?
JocastaJackal
I received one from UCAS, but not one from Cardiff.

omg, i haven't had one from either! is that a bad sign?

No, if your status has changed on Track to successful then don't worry. :P Your postal service probably just blows.

I asked this to a post-grad student at my open day a few months back.

He had said that a mate of his had been put into Talybont but he called residences and got into Senghenydd instead. It may have helped that he was an engineer and that the engineering block is a stones throw from Senghenydd

It sure as hell isn't the first two. I'm still waiting, and two of my mates already know where they are, and it wasn't their first choice. I forget where one ended up, but the other applied first for Colum and got into Senghetto...

I'm just thinking "I've heard nothing from Cardiff except for the track update and my AS12." The accom issue doesn't exactly 'bug' me, per se, but it does make me think I'll end up somewhere MILES out of my way. And since it's sod's law for me lately, I'll be in Aberconway, the only one on my list with Shared Bathrooms - which I only put down so I'd make 10 different combos of places. :o:

I thought Aberconway usually has bathrooms shared between only two people? That wouldn't be so bad . (It was my second choice afterall :p:)

I think the first thing anyone hears from them is an email from the residences office, and lots of people appear to still be waiting (including me) so just try to stay calm about it (I'm trying to)

Yes you're right. An email gets sent to you saying "We are pleased to offer you a place in University Residences for the 2008/09 session". Then you have to log onto the residence part on the university website and there it will say where you've been allocated. And then have 7 days to to the residence agreement.
