It's a network point, via an ethernet cable. I think they provide the cable for you.

Jupp, the Uni provides you with a short 1m cable GREEN cable. Apparently this is the only cable they allow you to use. Didnt try replacing mine last year so dont know if you can bring your own longer cable so you can lie in bed and use the internet at the same time.

Ah right. Thanks.

But they provide the cable yes? At least that's something

Yeah, they do.

And the reason isn't because you're not allowed or able to use other cables, it's just that when university IT departments didn't do it, people would often buy the wrong cables. If you want to bring a longer cable and you're sure it's the right type, go ahead. I've got at least three of them floating about my house.
Just saw this thread; it's amazing how cheap Cardiff is compared to everywhere else. The same applies for other living costs, food and drink etc. I'm told.

Edit - that doesn't actually answer your question, but basically all you need is a standard Ethernet cable, something like this.

Wow! Cardiff is way cheaper than other places! Everyone else seems to be paying around £4000 and still have to share bathrooms, whereas mine's less than £3000 and it's ensuite!

Bargain city!
Less than two weeks . I can't waaaait.

Anyone know how the freeview reception is in Senghenydd Court? Could I get Freeview with a normal indoor digital aerial?

I've been reading on the university website and just found out things such as iplayer don't work on our laptops in halls! Oooooh nooo it's a travesty. I thought I was being clever not planning on bringing down a tv and using iplayer and channel 4 catch-up instead!
Yeh, I was wondering....are most people taking a tv down? I have my Sony 20" tv which I think I'm going to be taking down with me......
