What's everyone planning on doin tonight? Oceana sounded pretty amazing last night, but the queues were just a joke. You'd have thought they'd have made getting in much easier lol

Woo, pub crawl! I am so looking forward to tomorrow. =)

Also, we managed to get into Tiger Tiger at like 11:30 last night (after queuing for Oceana for an hour and not getting in) and trust me, you didn't miss much. It was horrible and dark and smelly and I didn't like it one bit. >.<;

See you tomorrow :p:!

Thanks for the warning too. Am supposed to be going to that UV party at oceana tonight but I have a sore throat from hell and want to be fit for our pub crawl..
Ohhh, yes I wanted to go to that UV party too but if I did I know I'd be death tomorrow. xD

I'm meeting Eliza for some drinks at the social though, if you feel up to it. =)
I would've, but I've taken my Night Nurse now in the desperate attempt to get a proper night's sleep :frown:

UV party was imense
Just out of curiosity:

To all HUMSS students - what electives did you pick up today? I'm really curious as to who I might meet in my optional classes.

I picked up Italian and Ancient History - now it'd be nice to know what other Humanities/Social Science/Lang students picked up.

I'm a joint honours English Literature and Language Studies students, and I chose Cultural Criticism, just on the basis that it sounds fun and perhaps even pointless, but hey, sounds a laugh and I can watch Pulp Fiction; thought of History but decided not to and I'm not really adventurous enough to take up a foreign language, wish I was. But my friend, like yourself, chose Italian.
Did anyone end up at the foam party in oceana tonight? I am absolutely soaked!!! But had an awesome night

I picked Psychology. Biological and cognitive psych module pulled me in.

Quite possibly, what with there being an Ancient History intro lecture tomorrow morning. I'll be the guy weighed down with things - I've forgotten what I need to take already, and I still have to pick up my copy of Parlo Italiano. Oh well - I'm going home after my Italian lecture, so it doesn't really matter a fig to me. :p:
I've gone for French Modules alongside Music, next year choosing modules from other subjects is only optional so I might only do one year of French.
Apologies to anyone in Colum if Flat 6 made an insane amount of noise last night, we played three games of ring of fire.

Luckily I was out on a pub crawl

But either way, Colum Hall is quite soundproof. Sitting at the end of the corridor (not on my own, incidentally) with people playing very loud music in the kitchen, the moment the fire door shuts the volume decreases by 80% or so, and I imagine the people in the flat opposite wouldn't be able to hear anything. Thank god for thick doors. Now, be honest, who's been propping them open? :p:

I'm in Taly North, and we prop our doors open all the time. I can hear music through a closed door, cause one of my flatmates has really bassy speakers. I can't hear anything else when the door is closed, unless they stand right by it.

So, propping the ''fire door'' open is good - if the cleaner complains, I'm telling her:
a) it's anti-social
b) I can shut it by standing on the coat-hanger, and it'll still work as a fire door.

Well... in my flat loud music travels easily through the bedroom doors, but not so much through the kitchen door, which is presumably thicker and sealed more tightly to slow down the progress of a fire.

I'm in talynorth too, and our cleaners are the sweetest people you'll ever meet, we basically destroyed our kitchen and moved everything around, and they havent said a word.
they shut our kitchen door everytime they come, but they've never said anything.
We haven't had any cleaners yet :/ Complain-time tomorrow.

The maintenance guy was really nice - and the cleaners I've met in the launderette are sound too. But this one...she didn't appreciate our Tesco trolley, or us propping open doors at all. The maintenance guy just walked in, saw the doors open, and said "Alright, guys? I'm 'ere for the fridge" - no hassle whatsoever.
