M3: C.O.M.

whats the position of COM of the cylinder? btw, ive flipped it around so that O is at (0,0)

h = 4L4L

COM of cylinder shell: (1/3)h(1/3)h

therefore: (1/3)(4L)=(4/3)L(1/3)(4L) = (4/3)L

but that differs from the mark scheme.

The cylinder is solid and a solid cone is removed from the cylinder.

The cylinder has symmetry so u should be able to determine where the CofM of the cylinder is.

The CofM of the solid cone is h/4 above base on axis of symmetry.

Use ur usual method to work out the centre of mass of the resultant shape.
