How do I improve my English Language GCSE grade?

Hi!

I recently sat an English Language mock at school and we have just been given our results back. I'll put them below.

Paper 1
Q1 - 4/4
Q2 - 5/8
Q3 - 4/8
Q4 - 9/20
Q5 - 17/24 for content and organisation and 11/16 SPaG = 28/40
(Overall 50/80)

Paper 2
Q1- 4/4
Q2 - 5/8
Q3 - 7/12
Q4 - 10/16
Q5 - 17/24 for content and organisation and 11/16 SPaG = 28/40
(Overall 54/80)

P1 & P2 = 104/160

This was graded as a high 6 and ideally, I am aiming for a grade 7/8. Looking at my results could anyone tell me where and how I could improve. Thanks!

Mr bruff !!! He has a whole language playlist... it’s all about technique , and with the creative writing just ENJOY it - don’t stress I thought I was **** and would be happy with a 6 and ended up getting an 8, honestly it’s very subjective to the examiner

For the writing section, use writingexercises.co.uk to practice timed writing and get other people (on here or irl) to give you pointers. You can use spec questions as templates; make a question on a completely random piece of text and try to answer it. Mrbruff on youtube is also a saint for english tips aha. I made a thread of resources here, so if you trawl through you'll probably find something to help (and feel free to add to it)! Good luck, work hard :biggrin:
