Re-Creating thje Dolce and Gabbana Hand Painted Tulle Dress

Hey guys, I was hoping to re-create this dress by buying a medium-long length tulle skirt, a black cotton/nylon camisole and possible a black meringue petticoat underneath the tulle skirt. Then, I wanted to get a heck of a lot of white tulle and somehow wrap it around the skirt/camisole combo like the above image, and then splatter it Pollock-style with multicoloured fabric paints.

Does anyone know how I would wrap the tulle around it similar to the above (perhaps less meringue-ey as it's for a prom and needs to be wearable!) to create an entire dress? How would I customise it? Can you sew tulle? :s-smilie: Sorry my textiles knowledge sucks, so I was hoping some of you wise people out there would know what to do!

Thanks!

if your textiles knowledge sucks I wouldn't recommed this project at all... Perhaps something simple, or have a dress maker do it.

I can sew and follow instructions really well-I pick things up quickly. I've had textiles classes in the past and do book binding in my free time-I just need to know if it's do-able and how to do it.

I suspect this is going to be a very difficult project. Dolce and Gabanna would've had very experienced couture atelier's working on this for weeks and weeks, it is very hard to sew tulle without it crinkling at the top and looking amateurish.

My suggestion would be to tone down the design and create your own version inspired by this look. Have a look online for prom dress patterns, make a khaki-ish one with graduated hemline and wear black tutus like the ones from rokit under it. Then you can sew the top bart of a tank top into the bustier and paint it. This would be much more wearable and could probably look great!

they are going to be a lot more experienced than the users on here ( no offence to anyone who is experienced!)

Hey, did u ever manage to re-create this dress? It's amazing! I'm getting married in August and looking for someone to make my flower girl dresses. Full tulle skirt (gold/ivory) with satin 'top half' and straps. Not as complicated as the dress above. Do u make dresses for other people?
