Falling out with new friends ALL THE TIME! Watch

Without sounding arrogant I’d describe myself as a quiet but very warm friendly person...

Well... that’s until politics gets involved!!!

Every single friendship group I have ever had in my life I have fallen out with over politics arguments. Every time I start to make new friendship groups, as soon as politics is mentioned - BOOOOOM i’m off on one!!! There is always at least a couple of people who’ll have totally opposite views to me - and hence it turns into a riot when we argue... and I’m the one who has to leave the friendship group even though others may agree with me because I’m not the established friend.

I can’t help myself - I have to put my nose in and give my opinions and I can’t help myself from arguing my case over. I love arguing my opinion - it’s probably my ego because I’m so convinced I’m correct about my socialist views.

But it’s getting to the point where it’s taking its toll... I’m being left with less and less friendship groups to join because I get so involved and aggressive with politics.

I honestly need advice to stop my addiction of arguing politics because it’s getting to the point where my social life will die because everyone will turn against me??? Any advice appreciated???

My advice would be to sign up to a politics debate forum and use that (rather than your friends) to release your urges to argue politics on.

Politics is ok to talk about with friends, however if you do talk politics, you need to be able to do it wisely and with appropriate restraint (knowing when to drop a particular matter etc). Learning to agree to disagree is a wonderful life skill.

politics is completely fine to talk about with your friends and it's completely okay that you all have different opinions. I've had similar problems to you, the key is just to respect the fact you've all got different views and try not to be argumentative
