The only reason I'd support reintroducing death penalty for the worst offenders is to reduce the costs on our prison system.

Or... we could just put them to work instead, so they pay for themselves. I'd prefer that. Dig cable trenches. Build electronics. Whatever. Train them first if necessary.

I just feel like it is okay the way it is. Idk... I did history GCSE and there was a chapter on the miscarriage of justice. It was very saddening.

They should lock them in a room with only TSR to occupy them all day.

A fate worse than death but as addictive as heroin.

I remember reading somewhere that it costs the state about £35K per prisoner, per year. The accommodation, the staffing, the food, etc.

They should earn it.

To inctentivize them to work, double prison sentences, all of them. And offer reduced prison sentences down to 50% for those that work.

Isn’t it a thing that it’s cheaper to keep someone jailed for life than to enforce the death penalty and kill them? The methods nowadays used don’t come cheap.

SO teh offenders should be paying off the £35k??
isnt that too harsh, that could take them ages, that would be equivalent to life? soo what should they do
lower it for offenders like price wise or for everything thing they do they get paid £50-£500?

Administering the death penalty is counterintuitively more expensive than imprisoning a convict for life, in part due to the legal fees associated with the multiple appeals you have to allow for the death penalty to have some pathetic semblance of humanity.

Yea probably. Wouldn't surprise me. The only country on Earth where it can probably cost you £1000 to wipe a piece of batshyt of your office window on the 1st floor, because they need to hire the local scaffolding firm for "health & safety" reasons.

Nothing will surprise me on this front any more.
