Slow speaking voice in my head

When I was younger, from time to time after waking up I'd hear this voice in my head. Used to annoy me so much. It was like someone talking but slowed down until you couldn't recognise what was being said. But there's no way it could have been a real voice. And there was no-one in my room. And it's like I'd keep hearing it, for ages until it sped up, then went away.

Was weird.
Anyone have any idea what it was?

It sounded like the same phrase being repeated over and over, but incredibly slowly. Exactly like when u slow a tape down. It distorts the voice. And the voice in my head sounded distorted as well.
Dunno if it wouldn't be linked to the blood flow in my head, because I think I vaguely remember a kind of pounding in my head. I'm not sure if I could feel but I remember hearing the pounding along with the male distorted voice.
And something is making me think that even after I got up sometimes everything was still slowed down. Because I remember being somewhere where my friend was and everything she said was slowed down. Maybe that was a dream.

I vaguely remember having something similar when I was younger, but I'd get these when I went to bed and was drifting off mainly, so not sure if it was really the same thing. Also, when I closed my eyes I would see images but all movement were really slowed down, like with the voice. It used to scare the hell outta me when I was little! It was strange
Hmmm..

I sometimes get voices in my head - not like crazy voices lol, just myself thinking things over and stuff - but never really slowly..

Maybe it's because it's early in the morning but that is ****ing terrifying.

Nos (aka laughing gas), from what I remember gives the same experience. Which I assume is due to a lack of oxygen to the brain so you could be right.

I occasionally get something which sounds similar; there's a voice (although it's more a bizarre contortion of my own voice than something which seems external) which speaks really slowly with a massive echoing effect, as if it were booming down at me in a canyon. This is more reserved for when I'm ill though.

That's bizarre. Sounds like either you're hallucinating or my atheism is misguided!

YAY! I'm not the only one. And YAY there's a reason. lol Dionysus, I knew the existance of God was going to come into this thread somewhere :p:

Haven't got it again since I was about 6.

On wikipedia, reading about the effects of laughing gas, depersonalisation and derealisation, I definitely experienced those too. Nothing felt real at the time, esp the thing with my friend (which now I think was real). I couldn't focus on anything and it was like I was watching everything but I wasn't part of it, but only while that happened, after everything went back to normal.

I used to get exactly the same thing whenever I was ill in bed. I also used to get hallucinations that the walls of my bedroom were really close to me.

I remember being afraid to open my eyes in case the hallucinations returned.

Do you ever get that voice in your head that follows what someone is saying. Basically repeating it. And sometimes you swear that the voice said what they were going to say before they say it.

omfg yeah. Used to annoy me loads when I was younger. Then I just came to the conclusion that I'm not predicting what they are going to say before they've said it because if I tried to say it, I couldn't and therefore it was after, just pretty close to the actual person and I was not psychic.

Wonder what that's all about? Maybe the process of remembering/understanding things through repetition.

Your avatar frightens me.

Actually, this thread is quite creepy in general. Don't you get really disturbed by that, Blue Rose? I'm enough of a wimp as it is.. I'm not sure I could cope with voices in my head as well. :s-smilie:

I got/still occasionally get a feeling/memory in my mind that sounds similar, kind of an incredibly slowed down voice or experience. Very strange.
When I was younger, I used to get the feeling that everything was slowing down, like, really slow, but everything was still moving at normal speed, even me, it just felt like everything was slow...
I get that too sometimes, mainly when I'm tired or ill... a weird, deep distorted voice speaking very very slowly. Doesn't make any sense what it's saying though. And at the same time as that voice is in my head, I often also get a kind of a floating feeling... as I said, I link it to tiredness.

It's called hypnagogic hallucination - nothing creepy, just your mind playing tricks with you (google it).
Ahh cool ^^It's nice to have a name for it. lol.
