Slade Summer School

How can they dare to charge £2780 for 10 weeks tuition and then probably another £1500 for accomodation? Materials are not included so that's another several hundred pounds.
I mean, what prospective artist has this kind of money?

I'm studying at Oxford so their "tutorials" and "lectures" will not be anything novel to me.
Anyone thinks it is good value?

Ha I was working in the Slade this summer breaking down gallery installations. There were summer school people milling around. Those posh farks are real narks.
From someone who is doing it:

"before I walked through the doors of my slade course I thought all the boys there would be gay and all the girls would be Sloane square - public school - polo playing and 'yahh, dahling' saying bleached blondes....turns out all the boys are total virginia-wolfian shrinking violets and all the girls are total dykes!"

Would you care to elaborate.
Did you / he/ she enjoy the experience? Was it worth the money?

She's doing it right now. Do you have some other questions you'd want answered?

The quote was about her expectation of people taking the course.

I am not rich or a dyke.
Is anyone else doing the course, or have one it before?
I am a bit nervous!

Well, not really. I have a couple of friends doing BFA at the Slade. They are neither dyes nor rich. To the OP, you'd never know if the summer course is worth it until you do it.

i have no idea, but you don't have to be too nervous. you're there to learn and gain from it, it's more of a personal challenge. if other ppl want to treat it like some competition then it's their problem. just wanted to let you know not to worry, cos i've always worried about whether everyone will think i'm terrible or be really judgemental in workshops, but it's always ended up being an amazing experience
