I am a student nurse now on my 2nd year of university. Is there any way for me to be a dermatologist still? i have always wanted to be a dermatologist, would i still have to redo university again? what about becoming a dermatologist nurse? is that even in demand?

Dermatologists are doctors, so if you wanted to become one you'd have study medicine then follow a career path into dermatology. Nurses do work within dermatology, I don't know enough about the specialty to be able to advise you on it though. What sorts of things interest you in dermatology? From what I'm aware it's mainly an outpatient specialty, but has close links with burns and plastics.

You can specialise in dermatology as a nurse, however most nurses following this route will have significant experience in surgery, tissue viability or similar. You would then need to sit a training course in dermatology before you could be considered for a role. If you have a look on the NHS Jobs website, you should be able to see the requirements for dermatology roles, however, as I'm sure you're aware, these may be few and far between.

You can become a dermatology nurse as that’s what my mum is and she loves it. She works with the doctors on some things whilst a lot of the time it’s nurse led! Very interesting and you wouldn’t need to change courses etc
